Sitecore Launches Social Media Marketing Solution, Sitecore Social

If you are a business then you need to have some degree of social media presence. Which means you need a social media marketing tool to not only manage your social media accounts, but also monitor what’s happening and measure the performance of your activities. If you have Adobe, you likely use Adobe Social, but if you have Sitecore, then you use Sitecore Social.
Sitecore’s social media marketing solution is powered by , a Denmark-based social media marketing solution in which Sitecore has a majority stake. Komfo is well-known in the Scandinavian marketing, but with the launch of Sitecore Social, it will now be available to customers in the US, UK and Australian markets. For now, Sitecore Social is a standalone social media marketing solution, offered as software-as-a-service. It enables you to connect with all the major social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn, with support for Pinterest and a few others on the roadmap.
It also allows you to monitor the performance of your Facebook advertising, and Twitter ad support is expected soon. Measuring the performance of your social media efforts is important overall, and Sitecore Social provides a number of content engagement metrics and built-in analytics to help ensure your efforts are effective.
In a conversation about the launch of Sitecore Social with Mark Floisand, VP Marketing at Sitecore, I learned that although Social is currently a standalone solution, there are plans to integrate it with other Sitecore solutions. Right now experience data from the social media channels will feed into the experience database, like any other solution, but the primary goal is to ensure all channels are tightly integrated. This will be key when building out marketing profiles and improving social media effectiveness for prospects and customers.
Social media marketing is one of the last major pieces of functionality that Sitecore needs to complete its end-to-end customer experience platform. Just recently Sitecore also announced its partnership with ADAM software for digital asset management.
The ADAM software partnership is both a technology one and a strategic sales one, allowing Sitecore customers to better manage rich media content for all properties and channels.
Ensuring that all services are tightly integrated will need to be its focus moving forward. This is something that Adobe has been able to do very well, and Sitecore will need to prove it’s not simply putting a number of standalone solutions on the table.
