Something I have learned this week is that the digital marketer can never stop learning. Nor can the content marketer, the content management professional, the developer, the CIO, the CMO….
Things are changing constantly, it’s pretty much impossible to keep up. You have to keep your finger on the pulse of technology changes, this is true.
But the reality is that you can’t adopt every new technology that comes out, and you can’t always change your content or marketing strategy on the fly because someone thought of something new.
The bleeding edge is a fascinating place to live, but for the majority of organizations, you just can’t afford to live there. You have a budget, you have goals and targets, what’s important is to learn what you can do within those “constraints”.
Of course, there’s always room to be innovative, you just have to be innovative.
In this week’s Digital Experiences Flipboard Magazine, there’s a big focus on technology. New versions of software, new partnerships and acquisitions. All good things to know whether they directly impact you or not. By keeping track of how technology is changing, you can start to see new ways of building digital experiences, of reaching your customers in the right place, with the right context.
Don’t let the constant change freak you out. Enjoy the roller coaster ride, but don’t always try to sit in the front seat. Watch and learn, adapt where you can. Be innovate within your constraints. As long as your customer’s are happy, then you’ve done a good job.
Until next week…
