It’s A Wrap: Don’t Forget Customer Service This Holiday Season + Digital Marketing Vendor Map

Despite that it’s a major holiday in the US, there were still some good stories out this week related to digital experiences.
One big piece of news I saw this am that is fantastic for Nova Scotia (which is where I am from) is that IBM has awarded a multi-million dollar cloud computing platform to Nova Scotia post secondary schools. It is to be up at Dalhousie University and available to all the other universities in Nova Scotia, including the NS Community College. The intent of this platform is to drive the development of an analytics curriculum (big data scientists anyone), as well as research and development.
I had written about the deal IBM has established with NS to open a big data center back in November of last year. This is an extension of that agreement to help produce over 500 highly skilled job in analytics. I need to find out more about what they are doing, I’d love to know how they will work a digital marketing analytics path into the curriculum.
And while piece of news excited me, there were other topics discussed this week that captured my attention and should capture yours:
- Microsoft is moving to encrypted search like Google, so say goodbye to more keyword data.
- The Real Story Group has updated its Digital Marketing and Digital Workplace Vendor Maps – I love these maps. Everyone focused on digital technologies should have a map like this pinned to their wall.
- The Tempkin Experience Ratings are out for Customer Loyalty. Even if you can’t afford the report, check out the highlights.
And finally, because we are officially kicking off the holiday shopping season this week (because thanks to the US, Canada now has clued in to have its own Black Friday), we read about the importance of customer service during this crazy time. And I can tell you, we all need customer support to be top-notch, so think about how your business is going to do that – whether you are B2C or B2B.
