Hippo CMS 7.9 Offers Marketers More Control Over Channel Management

The newest version of the Hippo web content management platform is now available. This is an open source WCM, putting its third updates in the last few years.
In this release you see the integration of the CKEditor as its rich text editor, secure content replication ensuring that changes to published content, layouts or targeting rules are immediately updated on the live website, Apache Commons SCXML 2.0 library and the W3C State Chart for XML (SCXML) standard specification for workflow execution, and a streamlined document model in the repository tier. Hippo has also improved memory usage on the delivery tier.
The biggest new feature is Advanced Channel Management, giving marketers more control over the creation of landing pages and menu changes on their websites. A new drag and drop interface enables a marketer to quick create landing pages and campaign sites without requiring IT to do anything. Marketers can create and modify menus for each channel and apply permissions for channel management

Hippo Advanced Channel Management
The last version of Hippo CMS brought personas, improved targeting and personalization based on personal history and situation/location information. The company was on the EContent 100 list of companies that matter the most in the digital content industry, and was the Critics Choice for best Open Source CMS in the CMS Critics award late last year.
There are a number of other improvements to this version of Hippo. You can check out the release notes for more information. A little disappointed to not get a look at the Advanced Channel Management via screenshots or a quick video, but I’ll work that out and get something for you to see.
What’s good to see is that Hippo is continuing its roadmap of delivering more functionality to marketers who need to create and manage content, landing pages and campaign sites quickly. There are better things for developers to do than add new menus. I’m sure everyone is happy all around with this update.
